Cody's artwork combats the mind-numbing, dumbing-down effects of consumer culture, by exposing the pervasive control of consumerism. Understanding marketing strategies is key to understanding American consumer culture and its grip on us. Operating undercover, her work gets viewers to unwittingly assess their overexposure to marketing and branding. Cody's work has been featured and/or reviewed by: ABC News 20/20, Advertising Age, Art in America, the Chicago Tribune, Flash Art, the New York Times, Playboy, salon.com, college textbooks and international magazines. Previous solo shows include Agnew’s in London, the Philip Feldman gallery and Savage in Portland, Oregon, and Roebling Hall gallery in Brooklyn.
