Each cast in this edition is taken from a 2-part mold of a found stick. Poured cement makes up the main component of each piece, recreating the original stick. The cement cast is reinforced with a length of 1/2” thick rebar, which is partially exposed. Accompanied by a signed and numbered certificate of authenticity.
Kathleen Vance was born in rural Maryland in 1977. She received a BFA in sculpture from the Pratt Institute in 1999 and her MFA from Hunter College in 2006. She has been the recipient of a Haskel travel grant as well as grants from the Brooklyn Arts council and the Creative Capital Foundation. She is a member of the Sculptors guild. Her work has been exhibited in numerous venues throughout New York and surrounding states.
