five hand-bound (4 saddle-stitched, 1 accordion) softcover books in a cloth-bound, hardcover folio, 70 pages total, color throughout
3 1/4 x 4 in.
Small Hours contains five softcover books tucked inside a small folio. These contain meditations on personal, cultural and species-wide decline—the sorts of musings that arise, mostly unbidden, in the eponymous “small hours”. They also contain botanical illustrations under the titles Wood Skin and Chlorophyllia which both abstract and ground the book’s mesmerizing preoccupations. Published by Fleabites. Numbered.
Maddalena Polletta has lived and worked in New York City for the past 29 years. Since 1991 she has collaborated with a group of Artists and Writers, through the collective Fleabites, on artist books/zines.
