Menjivar Auto Sound is a component of Feigenbaum’s Trainset Ghetto project, in this case a to-scale “simulacrum” of an auto sound warehouse building that one might encounter in Hunts Point in the Bronx or East LA. Trainset Ghetto is not simply a “cheap holiday in other people’s misery” – it is a rigorous examination of the urban architectural vernacular. And it is more than a simple replication; it is an attempt to understand the metaphysics of place within an urban context.
